US chicken processor to build US$70 million feed mill, hatchery in Georgia, US

A new, US$70 million feed mill and hatchery will be built in Crawfordville, Georgia, US, chicken processor Harrison Poultry Inc. - which will construct the facility - revealed.

The feed mill is expected to increase capacity of another facility in nearby Barrow County. It will also allow Harrison Poultry to produce a maximum output of 18,000 tonnes per week of feed and support up to 165 broiler houses.

David Bleth, Harrison Poultry's CEO, said that "advances in technology" had helped the company to expand its business, as well as improving efficiency and lowering cost.

"As Harrison Poultry expands, they will invest more than US$90 million in attracting the additional growers and broiler houses that the new feed mill will support. That's a huge gain for agribusiness right here in Taliaferro County," said State Senator Lee Anderson said in a statement.
