Romer labs launches new melamine test kit

In the wake of the melamine contaminated milk in China, and as concerns rise internationally over whether food items with dairy ingredients are contaminated, Romer Labs is launching a melamine testing kit for better assurance.

The company said its AgraQuant Melamine ELISA has been proven to be a reliable screening method for melamine in feed and dairy products, including pet food, milk and milk-powder.

The company recently announced its AgraQuant DON ELISA Test Kit for the detection of Deoxynivalenol (Vomitoxin) was granted Performance Tested Status by the AOAC Research Institute (AOAC-RI No. 110701).  Like melamine, Vomitoxin might cause kidney problems in humans.

Romer Labs is a niche provider of diagnostic solutions for the agricultural, food and feed industry. They provide research and analytical services on products like test kits, genetically modified organisms (GMO) and even mycotoxins.

The company also launched a straight forward chromatographic method for the analysis of melamine using a MycoSep 224 for sample purification. The method has been validated for dry and wet pet food commodities, glutens, milk powder, and baby formulas.

Romer Labs' full analytical service laboratories, which employs technology such as LC-MS/MS, is based in the US, Singapore and Austria and offers melamine testing to customers all over the world.
