Caribbean strong market for US beef and pork
The Caribbean is seen as a strong growth market for US meat exports, in which it made up nearly US$150 million in US beef and pork exports in 2008.
St. Lucia's largest grocery chain, Super J, perishables director Troy Valcin stated more growth in the future is seen, even though the country has restrictions on pork and bone-in beef imports.
According to reports, the US Meat Export Federation (USMF) hosted a group of Caribbean retail executives recently in order to educate them on the attributes of US beef and pork.
