One million pounds of Chinese pork confiscated by US authorities
About one million pounds of pork originating from China have been confiscated by US border authorities, said an official for the US Customs and Border Protection.
The products, which were sized this month in New York, US, was part of an effort to "battle the spread of African swine fever," Anthony L. Bucci, public affairs specialist at US Customs and Border Protection, told Reuters.
Bucci also added that the confiscation is part of "an ongoing investigation," and US federal agents were working with USDA on the issue.
