BASF declares Force Majeure for Vitamin A and E and several carotenoids
On October 31, a fire occurred during the startup of the Citral plant in Ludwigshafen, Germany. Consequently, BASF had to shut down the plant and had to declare Force Majeure for its Citral- and Isoprenol-based aroma ingredients.

Bayer to sell Crop Science businesses to BASF for EUR6B
German chemical and pharmaceutical firm Bayer AG has signed an agreement to sell selected Crop Science businesses to BASF for EUR5.9 billion (US$6.98 billion).
