Shrimp, pangasius drive Vietnam's aquatic exports to hit US$10 billion this year
Vietnam's aquatic exports reached US$10 billion in 2024, driven by shrimp and pangasius, Vietnam News Agency reported on December 24, citing the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers.
Shrimp and pangasius accounted for 60% of the total revenues, the report said.
Shrimp's overseas shipments climbed 16.7% to $4 billion this year, while pangasius export revenues increased 8.9% to $2 billion compared to 2023.
Despite raw material shortages, tuna exports hit $1 billion up 18% year on year.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien said Vietnamese seafood companies were increasingly showcasing their capabilities in advanced processing and high-quality production, laying a foundation for the sector to exceed $10 billion in 2025 toward a goal of $11 billion.
