Russia bans meat and dairy imports from Bulgarian firms
A ban on the imports of meat and milk products produced by five Bulgarian companies was imposed by Russia's food safety authorities.
A decision to that effect was made after experts of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance and their Bulgarian colleagues conducted an inspection of Bulgarian meat and milk producing plants in October, The Voice of Russia reported Friday.
The Bulgarian companies now banned from exporting meat and dairy to Russia are Mekom, Avis, Brezovo, BCC Handel, and "Meat Products".
Russia's Rosselkhoznadzor sanitary watchdog slapped a similar ban on "Les Viandes du Breton Inc", a Canadian meat exporter, several weeks ago after dangerous bacteria were found in a pork shipment headed to Russia.
