Ukraine's 2012-13 grain exports total 14 million tonnes
As of December 27, 2012 and since the beginning of 2012-13 marketing year, Ukraine's general grain exports totalled 14 million tonnes, against nearly 9.1 million tonnes in the same period last marketing year (MY).
This was declared by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
In particular, in the current season the country exported 5.8 million tonnes of wheat (including 4.9 million tonnes of milling wheat), 6.2 million tonnes of corn and 1.8 million tonnes of barley.
According to the Ministry, during December 1-27 of the current year Ukraine supplied almost 2.3 million tonnes of grains on foreign markets, including almost 340,000 tonnes of wheat (291,000 tonnes of milling wheat), 74,400 tonnes of barley and 1.8 million tonnes of corn.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy also reported that the export volumes of sunflower seed in the current MY (September-August) totalled 66,800 tonnes, against 62,500 tonnes in the same period of 2011-12 MY.
As a reminder, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy estimated the export capacity in 2012-13 MY at the level of 23 million tonnes of grains. According to forecasts of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, in 2012 the general grain harvest in Ukraine totalled nearly 46.2 million tonnes, as opposed to the record of 56.7 million tonnes in 2011.
