Russia's grain production shows 37% decrease
Russia's 2010 grain production decreased 37.3% on-year to 60.9 million tonnes net weight, above the previously expected 60.3-60.5 million tonnes, according to the Statistics Service.
"In 2010, all agricultural enterprises (organisations, farmers, and households) threshed 37.3% less grain compared to last year," the service said in a statement.
The Agriculture Ministry expected the country to harvest 60.3 million tonnes in 2010, while the government expected 60.5 million tonnes. The harvest was devastated by the nationwide record drought this summer.
