China's aquatic product output to continue upward swing
Total output of aquatic products in China is estimated to reach 51.2 million tonnes in 2009, rising about 4.5% year-on-year, with market supply and prices steady.
At the same time, the incomes of fishermen have increased this year, with the per capita net income expecting to hit more than RMB8,000 (US$1,171), rising about 6% year-on-year.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Agriculture, the state has set aside RMB1.23 billion (US$180.11 million) of special funds for improvement of infrastructure facilities in the sector.
Meanwhile, the local governments of such regions as Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Jiangxi and Hubei have arranged funds for the construction of fishing ports and cultivating ponds.
