China adds to list of industries to encourage foreign investment, includes plant-based meat production

China's National Development and Reform Commission expanded the list of industries it is looking to encourage foreign investment from 1,108 to 1,235 sectors, including plant-based meat production, Reuters reported.

The country's state planner is looking to promote foreign investment in the development and production of plant-based meat food products.

Global plant-based meat companies such as Beyond Meat has pushed forward with plans to set up a plant in China, while rival Impossible Foods is awaiting regulatory approval to enter the China market.
