Bird flu strikes Vietnam and Cambodia
A highly pathogenic strain of bird flu has been detected in Cambodia, while a new H5N1 case was uncovered in Vietnam.
The presence of H5N1 was confirmed in a village poultry flock of 1,216 birds in La-ak in the province of Kg. Cham, southeast of Cambodia, near to the border with Vietnam.
The disease broke out on December 16, killing 143 birds. The rest had been culled.
Meanwhile, Vietnam has found a new H5N1 case in the north. The outbreak occurred in a village poultry flock of 53 birds in Binh Lang in Cao Bang province, near the border with China. Half of the birds died, with the rest being culled.
