China Methionine: Frim demand, decreased output underpin prices (week ended Dec 28, 2020)
Demand for methionine was firm as feed producers placed orders until February or even March. However, with poultry feed sales lower than expected, feed producers were prudent with purchasing volumes. Supplies remained ample although Unisplendour, which was requested by the government to cut operation rate by 30% and, halted price releases amid limited stocks.
Transacted price of locally-produced dl-methionine in China consolidated in the range of RMB14.30-17.60/kg.
Price quotes of methionine in Europe were higher in the range of EUR2.05-2.30/kg.
Methionine sales will stay stable while feed producers stock inventories in preparation for the upcoming festive market. Nonetheless, price hikes are projected to be gradual with supplies sufficient.
