China VA: Prices rebound amid supply concerns (week ended Dec 28, 2020)
Prices of VA1000 increased prominently as production of BASF during H1 2021 is expected to be limited due to plant upgrading. Additionally, vitamin A producers in China halted price releases while production was disrupted by the severe power shortage in China.
Export prices of VA500 rebounded to US$36/kg.
VA1000 price quotes in Europe strengthened to the range of EUR76-76.50/kg.
VA1000 prices surged to RMB488/kg.
Tight availability of vitamin A will support prices to move higher. Should the power crunch in China aggravate, vitamin A prices will surge rapidly amid inadequate supply.
