China VB1: National blackout tightens supply, strengthens prices (week ended Dec 21, 2020)
Supplies of vitamin B1 shrank as China's worst power crunch in decades hit Jiangsu, causing producers to halt price releases amid limited stocks. Prices climbed significantly over the past week as a result.
In the local market, transaction prices of vitamin B1 were in the range of RMB138-150/kg.
Vitamin B1 producers, who cut output recently in attempts to increase returns, will face shortages if the power crunch in China persist. Vitamin B1 prices are set to rise should feed producers restock depleted inventories eagerly.
