New Zealand Beef Producers Worried About Export Prices

New Zealand beef producers may not necessary benefit from the single case of mad cow disease in the United States.

Anzco, a leading meat company, Chairman Graeme Harrison said beef farmers should be more worried about export prices in North America than any price rise bonanza from Asian markets. New Zealand exports wouldn't be immune from any price drop stemming from the mad cow news, he said.

More than half of New Zealand's beef exports go to the U.S. and Canada.
