China's total grain output increases 0.9% to 6649.49 million tonnes

China's total grain output was 669.49 million tonnes, an increase of 0.9% compared with that in 2019, the National Bureau of Statistics of China

According to a nationwide sampling survey and comprehensive statistics of agricultural holdings conducted by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in 31 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities) of China, the total grain sown area, yield per unit area and total grain output in 2020 were as follows:

- China's grain sown area was 116.77 million hectares, an increase of 704 thousand hectares or +0.6% compared with that in 2019. The sown area of cereals was 97.96 million hectares, an increase of 117 thousand hectares or +0.1% compared with that in 2019. Area sown for soybeans was 11.59 million hectares with an output of 22.88 million tonnes.

- China's grain yield per unit area was 5,734 kg/ha, an increase of 0.2% over that in 2019. Cereals yield per unit area was 6,296 kg/ha, an increase of 0.4%.

- China's total grain output was 669.49 million tonnes, an increase of 5.65 million tonnes or 0.9% compared with that in 2019. Cereals output was 616.74 million tonnes, an increase of 0.5% compared with that in 2019.
