Brazil's Mato Grosso do Sul to see 11.% and 4% increase in poultry and pig slaughters, respectively
Projections for the end of 2020 for swine and poultry production in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul are positive; compared to 2019, poultry slaughter is expected to be up 11.1% and pig slaughter is projected to be up 4%.
According to the survey carried out by the Technical Department of the Famasul System, the estimate is over 172 million head of poultry, and approximately 1.9 million pigs. The total production volume of the two production chains should total 560 thousand tonnes.
Exports of fresh meat, processed meat and offal are projected to increase by 23.8% in the commercialised weight of chicken and +229.4% in the volume of pork.
According to monitoring, revenue will increase by 4.19% and 275%, respectively, compared to the previous year.
China remains the main customer of Mato Grosso do Sul when it comes to the poultry market.
Between January and October this year, chicken meat revenue was 10.6% higher. For the pig market, Hong Kong led the export ranking with 261% higher for this same period.
