Germany to provide funding for innovative stall concepts for sows, rearing pigs in Kempten
Germany's Federal Minister for Food and Agriculture, Julia Klöckner, has submitted a funding notification to the North Rhine-Westphalia Chamber of Agriculture for a certain Zissau project in the town of Kempten.
The project involves sustainable and innovative stall construction concepts for sows and rearing pigs.
Funded by the Federal Ministry with a total of €2.3 million (US$2.8 million), the project supports the renovation of Haus Düsse experimental stables.
The Zissau project complements another project, called "Stable of the Future" which was planned as part of North Rhine-Westphalia's sustainable livestock husbandry strategy.
By 2022, new barns will be built for pig husbandry that will demonstrate innovative husbandry methods.
