OIE confirms Belgium's ASF-free status
The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) has approved Belgium's self-declaration of ASF-free status on December 21.
The status covers all pigs - domestic animals and wild boar.
On a global level, this recovery of Belgium's ASF-free status confirms the official eradication of the disease from Belgian territory and will facilitate the country's international trade in meat and other pork products.
The status will also allow Belgium to relaunch negotiations with third countries that have imposed an embargo on its pork.
