China's seafood production expands by 5.3 percent
China's seafood output is estimated to total 54.7 million tonnes in 2007, with fisherman's net income hitting RMB6,500 (US$889) per capita, up by 5.3 percent on-year.
The fisheries industrial output value is expected to exceed RMB498 billion (US$68 billion), according to the Ministry of Agriculture in China.
The Ministry of Finance reportedly focused its support on the marine industry, with total infrastructure investment exceeding RMB6 billion (US$820 million).
Inspections on seafood pesticide residues were also conducted by 29 provinces, regions and municipalities in China for the first time. The result of the comprehensive sampling qualification inspection on aquatic products in November met the required standards.
