Vietnam aims for 1.7 million tonnes of tra fish produced next year

Vietnam targets to achieve a commercial tra fish output of 1.7 million tonnes and an export turnover of US$2 billion in 2024.

In the same year, tra fish markets are also expected to recover, particularly from the second quarter of next year.

To achieve the output, localities in the Mekong Delta, especially An Giang and Dong Thap provinces, and tra fish processing and exporting businesses will have to focus on improving the quality of breed, VNA reported. Research and the development of deeply-processed production, as well as ready-made products and the diversification of products to meet different market segments, can also support the effort.

The VNA report stated the need for local tra fish production and processing enterprises to focus on expanding the domestic market and targeting canteens in industrial parks and schools while also seeking new markets and implementing certification regulations for products, particularly those for Muslim markets.
