Brazil's Q3 hog slaughter at 14.45 million head

Brazil's hog slaughter totaled 14.45 million head in the third quarter of 2022, the best slaughtering results for the months of July, August and September — providing the highest quarterly level in the historical series since the survey began in 1997.

This represents an increase of 5.0% in relation to the same quarter of the previous year and an increase of 2.4% compared to the second quarter of 2022. The record exports seen in the period (288.55 thousand tonnes) contributed to the production flow.

The total carcass weight registered in the third quarter of 2022 was 1.33 million tonnes, a 4.3% increase compared to the third quarter of 2021 and up 1.8% from the previous quarter.
