Additional 20,000 tonnes of frozen pork from China's reserves to be sold
An additional 20,000 tonnes of frozen pork stored in China's state reserves will be sold on December 27, 2019 to ensure the country is well supplied for the Lunar New Year celebrations, reported Reuters.
The China Merchandise Reserve Management Centre published an announcement of the sale on its website.
This follows the sale of 40,000 tonnes of frozen pork on December 23, 2019 from state reserves, which was also to supplement dwindling pork supplies caused by the African swine fever outbreak.
China has also approved additional sources of imported meat overseas to bolster domestic supplies.
