Germany constructs fences along border with Poland to safeguard from African swine fever

Protective electric fences were built in northeast Germany in Brandenburg, neighbouring Poland to protect the country from a possible African swine fever outbreak, reported Xinhua News.

The Brandenburg ministry of consumer protection said the location of the fences were decided by individual local Brandenburg districts.

The construction of the fences were due to the discovery of ASF in wild boars along the Germany-Poland border recently. More fences are expected to be built along Germany's borders to stem ASF from entering the country.

Denmark has concluded the construction of a 70-kilometre, 1.5-metre-high fence between the Denmark-Germany border, located along the Baltic Sea to the North Sea.
