Ukraine's Jan-Nov meat imports reach 319,000 tonnes

 

 

In January-November, Ukraine imported 319,000 tonnes of meat and meat products, with the target for 2013 being 330,000 tonnes.

 

During this period the country received 217,000 tonnes of pork, 69,000 tonnes of poultry, and 19,000 tonnes of beef, according to the balance sheet of the interagency working group under the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.

 

According to the ministry, the export of meat and meat products from the country over the 11 months amounted to 165,000 tonnes, including 132,000 tonnes of poultry, 24,000 tonnes of beef and 5,000 tonnes of pork. The ministry expects that 185,000 tonnes of this produced will be exported to foreign markets by Ukraine in 2013. Meat production in the country in January-November is estimated at 2.104 million tonnes.

 

As reported, the ministry forecasts that meat production in 2013 will amount to 2.39 million tonnes, including poultry - 1.2 million tonnes, pork - 750,000 tonnes, and beef - 400,000 tonnes.
