Ukraine's 2012-13 grain exports forecast up

As opposed to its previously announced level of 21-22 million tonnes, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine has increased its own forecast for grain exports from the country in 2012-13 marketing year to 23 million tonnes.

Sergei Petrenko, Deputy Director of the Department of economic development of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, on December 20 suggested that by the end of the current year Ukraine will export nearly 14.8 million tonnes of grains, including 5.8 million tonnes of wheat.

As a reminder, as of December 18 Ukraine already exported 13.4 million tonnes of grains, including 5.7 million tonnes of wheat, 5.7 million tonnes of corn and 1.8 million tonnes of barley.

On December 20, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy announced about the intention of the Agrarian Fund to sell 300,000 tonnes of wheat to grain traders with the possibility of its further exports. Thus, the forecast of wheat exports in the current marketing year can be increased to the level of over six million tonnes.
