US red meat production in November reach record highs
Commercial red meat production for the United States totaled 4.30 billion pounds in November, up 4 percent from a previous record of 4.15 billion pounds produced in November 2006.
January to November 2007 commercial red meat production was 44.6 billion pounds, up 2 percent from 2006. Accumulated beef production was up 1 percent from last year, veal was down 5 percent, pork was up 4 percent from last year, and lamb and mutton production was down 1 percent.
Pork production was up 8 percent compared to the same month last year, with slaughters up 7 percent with no changes in liveweight.
