Indonesia is the biggest buyer of Australian wheat

Indonesia has set a new record for purchasing the highest number of wheat from Australia.

According to the latest annual Wheat Exports Australia report to growers, Indonesia imported more than 3.5 million tonnes of Australian wheat in bulk for the 12 months to September 30 this year.

Indonesia is likely to have bought more than 3.5 millions, as for the past three years, it has taken between 180,000 tonnes and 405,000 tonnes of wheat in containers on top of bulk shipments.

The WEA only reports on bulk shipments of Australian wheat, not containership or bagged exports.

The previous record for Australian wheat sales to a single country was 3.35 million tonnes sold to Iran in 1996-97.
