Vietnam's seafood catch up by 2.3% in 2011
As of December 12, 2.35 million tonnes of various kinds of seafood have been caught by Vietnam, up 2.3% compared with the same period of 2010, according to the National Directorate of Aquatic Resources' Exploitation and Protection.
The directorate has shifted focus to offshore fishing, rather than rivers, canals and ponds, to ensure that the practice is sustainable.
It has also improved management of inland fishing, and has reduced the amount of post-harvest losses.
