Vietnam suspects teacher's death due to bird flu

A 36-year-old Vietnamese school teacher from the southern province of Soc Trang died recently after showing bird flu symptoms.

Ha Thanh Ut from Thanh Tri district died soon after being admitted to a hospital in the southern Bac Lieu province on Dec 21. Doctors suspected he might have been infected with the deadly H5N1 strain of bird flu that has claimed dozens of human lives in Asia.

The man's family was known to raise some fighting cocks.
