Bolivian producers scale up chicken and pork production ahead of festive season

Bolivian producers are gearing up for the year-end festivities, assuring a steady supply of chicken and pork meat to meet the heightened demand typical of this celebratory season, BNN Breaking reported.

Poultry farmers commit to maintaining stable prices, while swine farmers anticipate a modest increase of about BOB 2 (US$0.29) per kg.

In response to the seasonal surge in demand, the Poultry Association of Santa Cruz has boosted chicken meat production by 10%, aiming to cover the increased consumption. Nationwide, plans are underway to slaughter 85,000 swine, marking a 20% rise compared to the previous year.

As the festive season approaches, residents in Santa Cruz are preparing for a potential uptick in pork prices. Popular cuts such as leg and rib may see a reported increase of BOB 3 (US$0.44) per kg.

The Departmental Association of Pig Farmers of Santa Cruz affirms that the local markets will be adequately supplied with pork meat, reassuring consumers about the availability of the staple. The president of the association justifies the anticipated price hike by citing the need to provide year-end bonuses to workers involved in the production process.
