Besides providing further evidence that the intestinal microbiota of chickens is directly influenced by the microbiome found in the bedding, a recent joint study involving the Universidade Federal do Paraná of Brazil aimed to evaluate the effect of bedding treatment on the caecum of chickens experimentally challenged with Salmonella.
