Ukraine's 2007 poultry output seen at 900,000 tonnes, up 20 percent on-year

Ukraine is likely to produce in 2007 900,000 tonnes of poultry, an increase of 20 percent compared with the year-earlier period, the national poultry producers' union announced Wednesday (Dec 20).

Ukraine industrial poultry production is increasing at a considerable pace due to large-scale investment in the industry, while poultry production by private agricultural holdings will remain flat at about 200,000 tonnes in 2007.

The poultry union said Ukraine's annual domestic poultry requirement was 600,000 tonnes, so that the country was likely to become a major poultry exporter in the next few years.
