EU to inspect hygiene arrangements of Pakistani seafood exports
An EU delegation would visit Pakistan in January 2006 to inspect hygiene arrangements of the country's seafood exports.
According to Pakistan Seafood Industries Association's vice chairman Faisal Iftikhar, the government had earlier voluntarily banned seafood exports to the EU, due to unsatisfactory hygiene arrangements. The ban was lifted in August when the government felt that the situation had improved.
Iftikhar said he hoped total seafood exports would reach US$150 million for 2005/06.
