Indonesian aquaculture startup eFishery names interim leadership amid financial probe

Indonesian aquaculture startup eFishery has appointed Adhy Wibisono as interim CEO and Albertus Sasmitra as interim CFO, following an investigation into alleged financial irregularities.

DealStreetAsia stated that the company's co-founders, Gibran Huzaifah and Chrisna Aditya, had been suspended from their roles as CEO and CFO respectively. The suspensions come as part of an ongoing probe into discrepancies related to the company's financial performance and revenue.

"This decision, reached in unison with our shareholders, showcases our commitment to improving the company governance," eFishery stated, as reported by Tech in Asia. The company also acknowledged the seriousness of the situation, noting its awareness of market speculation and emphasising that the matter was being handled with the utmost seriousness.

eFishery, founded in 2013, provides innovative solutions for the aquaculture sector. Its platform connects fish and shrimp farmers with feed, financing, and markets. To date, the company has raised US$415 million in funding, including US$30 million in debt financing from HSBC Indonesia in May.
