Indonesia declares sufficient food stocks, will not import animal feed corn for 2025

Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, Zulkifli Hasan, announced that the country has sufficient national food stocks, prompting the government's decision to cease imports of four commodities, including corn for animal feed, next year.
Speaking at a press conference in Jakarta, Minister Hasan stated that the government has decided against importing specific commodities in 2025 due to stable food stocks and production. These commodities include consumption salt, sugar, rice, and corn for animal feed.
Addressing the domestic production of corn for animal feed, Minister Hasan stated that the target for 2025 stands at 16.68 million tonnes. This surpasses the domestic requirement of approximately 13 million tonnes, further supporting the decision to halt imports.
He also assured the public that food stocks are more than adequate to meet the demands of the upcoming Christmas and New Year period. Additionally, food prices are being monitored and remain under control, offering reassurance to consumers during the festive season.
"Food prices during Christmas and New Year are safe and controlled," the minister emphasised, reflecting the government's confidence in the nation's food supply.
