Poland to provide support to local pig producers in face of potential closures

Poland recently decided this month to grant financial assistance to pig producers in the country to prevent closures, in light of a crisis faced by the domestic pig sector, which saw the shutdown of pig farms.

The beneficiaries will be farmers who have sows with piglets born between November 15, 2021 and March 31, 2022. The aid will be zł1,000 (US$242.62) for a maximum of 10 piglets born per sow and up to a maximum of 5,000 piglets (500 sows).

The estimated cost of the aid totaled zł400 million (US$97 million).
