Russia, Poland to sign memorandum renewing meat trade

 

 

Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Oversight (Rosselkhoznadzor) is planning to sign a memorandum with Poland in Svetlogorsk (Kaliningrad region) this week in a move to lift ban on supplies of meat and meat products from Poland to Russia, the Kaliningrad region government said.

 

In a statement, the government said expert groups from Russia and Poland will start talks in Svetlogorsk also this week to discuss the resumption of supplies of Polish meat to the Russian market wherein a memorandum on this issue will surely follow.

 

The Russian veterinary watchdog banned the import of Polish meat in November 2005 following repeated instances of gross violation of veterinary regulations concerning supply of animal products and falsified documents on Polish meat supplied to Russia.
