Singapore resumes China dairy imports

Singapore has resumed the import of dairy products from China, Singapore's Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) said on Thursday (Dec 18).

AVA said it is satisfied with China's control measures that ensure exported dairy products are not contaminated with melamine.

AVA declared dairy products which are produced on or after December 18 will be allowed to be imported in Singapore.

Manufacturers are also required to inspect and test each batch of their raw materials and end products to ensure that they are melamine-free, and products must then be issued health certificates by the Chinese authorities before they are exported to Singapore.

The import of all dairy products from China has been suspended in Singapore since September 19 due to the melamine scandal.
