Brazilian pork production estimated to rise by 4.5 percent
Pork production in Brazil is set to rise by 4.5 percent next year, according to the Brazilian agriculture ministry.
From 2,651,000 tonnes this year, the production is anticipated to rise to 2,769,000 tonnes next year.
The forecast was based on Brazil's major pig meat producing areas, Goias, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso of the South, Minas Gerais, Parana, Rio Grande Do Sul, Santa Catarina and Sao Paulo, on March, June and October.
Researcher Marcelo Miele said that the ministry's survey also takes into account regional peculiarities such as how the production chain is organised and the varied technology in the areas.
