Illegal shipment of chicken seized in Hong Kong
A shipment of around 1,400 chicken and 130 silky fowl without valid health certificates have been seized near Yuen Long Creek in Hong Kong.
The poultry were in 110 cages, with unknown origin, and were transported to the Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department's operation centre in Ta Kwu Ling, Hong Kong.
The department once again warned the public about bringing live poultry into Hong Kong without valid health certificates. The authorities said that a fine of US$25,000 would be imposed.
In the first 11 months of this year, the department seized a total of 500 chickens with no valid documents imported in Hong Kong.
