Beyond Meat looking to plant-based poultry in 2020
Ethan Brown, Beyond Meat chief executive officer said the company will focus on developing its poultry product line, following its popular plant-based beef and pork products, reported Bloomberg.
Brown said no specific developments or partners can be named with regard to its plant-based poultry product, but he is optimistic about future partnerships.
The company used to sell its own plant-based chicken meat previously, but does not currently stock the product any longer. Over the summer this year, Beyond Meat tested a poultry product that imitates fried chicken at a KFC in Atlanta, which sold out within five hours.
Beyond Meat's plant-based beef and sausage products are available in more than 58,000 locations around the world for both retail and foodservice.
Brown added that the company is currently developing a whole muscle breast tissue.
