Turkey reports boosted poultry production in October 2019

 


The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) said production of chicken meat increased 36% year-on-year in October 2019 to 188,557 tonnes, reported Hürriyet Daily News.

 

Turkey meat production also increased to 5,926 tonnes, a 4.6% increase.

 

According to (TÜİK), 104 million chicken were slaughtered, a 3% rise in October 2019 on an annual basis. Slaughtered turkey on the other hand reached 579,000 units, a 0.2% drop in the same period. 

 

Hen egg production hit 1.7 billion units, a 2.1% increase over the same period, according to the official poultry production report.

 

Between January to October 2019, Turkey produced 1.78 million tonnes of chicken and turkey meat, slightly lower compared to 1.8 million tonnes in the same period in 2018.

 

Hen egg production was boosted 1.3% to 16.46 billion units between January to October 2019. Egg exports by Turkey reached US$247 million in the same period, with poultry meat exports hitting US$482 million.

 

Total egg and meat poultry exports hit US$729 million between January to October 2019.

 

2.85 million tonnes of chicken and turkey meat was produced in 2018, along with 19.6 billion hen eggs with an annual increase of close to 2%.
