Canada affected by fresh outbreak of E.coli
Canada is dealing with another outbreak of E.coli from contaminated beef as the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) announces an investigation which had resulted in voluntary withdrawal of two batches of Butchers Choice Hickory Barbecue Beef Burgers from Loblaw Companies Ltd.
The recall was extended yesterday.
The agency added that it was currently testing other beef products and conducting an investigation at the Loblaw plant, which could "could lead to the recall of more products".
Eating meat contaminated with E.coli O157:H7 bacteria can lead to serious illness, with symptoms including abdominal pain, diarrhoea, seizures or strokes, kidney damage and even death.
