EU corn imports may hit second-highest on record
Following a surge in wheat exports curbed domestic grain supply and drought parched crops, EU corn imports may be the second-highest on record this season.
The EU issued licenses to import 3.6 million tonnes of corn since the marketing year began July 2, more than twice the amount a year ago.
Purchases will rise 59% to 10 million tonnes, the second highest for data to 1999, the International Grains Council says.
