China Native Broiler: Prices surge amid soaring demand (week ended Dec 12, 2022)

Tightening availability, coupled with surging demand for chicken after the relaxing of lockdown measures, lifted the prices of native broilers prominently over the week.

 

Meanwhile, chick prices weakened as farmers were not keen to expand inventories.

 

The average price of fast-growth native broiler rebounded 19% to RMB12.45/kg, after tumbling a whopping 34% in seven weeks.

 

Fast-growth chick prices weakened to the range of RMB1-1.20/chick.

 

Prices of hybrid broiler rebounded  7.5% to RMB9.77/kg, after falling 9% over the  previous three weeks.

 

Prices of hybrid chick fell to the range of RMB0.65-0.70/chick.
