Futures market for live pigs to start on China's Dalian Commodity Exchange in January

The China Securities Regulatory Commission announced this month that the futures market for live pigs will start officially on the Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE) on January 8, 2021.

On December 12, the DCE issued an announcement requesting opinions and suggestions on the hog futures contract and related rules. According to the announcement, the DCE's public request for market opinions and suggestions includes documents such as the Dalian Commodity Exchange Live Hog Futures Contract consultation draft and Live Hog Futures Trading Rules from Dalian Commodity Exchange draft consultation. The deadline is December 19, 2020.

In terms of quality standards of delivery, the DCE refers to the indicator system of Lean Pig Live Quality Assessment (GB / T32759-2016), and - based on extensive research - has designed delivery quality indicators based on the characteristics of pig breeds and market habits.
