Clinical diagnostics group Novacyt develops new bird flu and COVID-19 tests

Clinical diagnostics group Novacyt announced that it is developing three new tests to detect bird flu and COVID-19, Reuters reported.

Novacyt, one of the many healthcare companies whose shares have gone up during the pandemic, said it was developing two new research-use-only (RUO) polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests for avian influenza after recent bird flu outbreaks in Europe, and a RUO PCR test for a new COVID-19 strain.

The company's shares are up 5,490% since the beginning of the year, with Novacyt's market capitalisation now at EUR 668 million (~US$810.8 million; EUR 1 = US$1.21).
