South Korea's agriculture ministry issues nationwide standstill order to contain bird flu spread
South Korea's Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs has issued a temporary 48-hour standstill order for all poultry farms and livestock production facilities in the country to contain the spread of bird flu, Reuters reported.
The order was issued after South Korea reported 10 highly pathogenic bird flu cases at poultry farms on November 11.
South Korea's first highly pathogenic H5N8 strain of bird flu this year was confirmed among wild birds in Cheonan-si, Chungcheongnam-do in October, 84km west of Seoul.
